My professor realised first lecture that this book by Stoessinger about "why nations go to war" was out of print (this was back in early 2000s) so he went to the print shop after the first lecture copied his own book all hundreds and hundreds of pages and then payed out of his own pocket to copy and print out 30 copies of the bookand handed them out in class to all students, stapled and complete with all pages in correct order. Man had a passion for teaching!

Tuition for even public colleges are like 12k a year. I think you can get the book for cheap if you look around long enough. Just gotta be prepared. Also check for marketplaces on facebook, student's who've taken the class would be able to sell for cheap.

For my bachelor thesis I used "the bible of software technology". At first I lend it from the library, but had to give it back 3 weeks later because someone else had a reservation already. After that I worked with the PDF. I wondered why I didn't do that from the start. Simply having it everywhere and the function of Ctrl F is worth it.
