Linux skills are cool and learning how to setup docker and other DeVOps tools are very useful if you want to do enterprise network admin roles but Windows & MS Office skills are a must for any business role. She‘s done high-end image processing of astronomical imaging, modeling the composition of pulsars to determine the exact cause of the well—know "pulsar glitch" phenomenon, and she's analysed HAWC data from Cherenkov radiation to match the sources of high—energy cosmic particle radiation with objects identified visually. I think she'll be okay without Windows. (Experience with Microsoft Ofi‘ice doesn’t help you get time on a supercomputer.) The other is a biology grad student who uses R to analyse data on Hawaiian birds suffering from avian malaria at lower altitudes to model the effects of global warming and see if we can perhaps save them from extinction. She's also doing quite well without Windows. If you want to keep doing what everyone else is already doing, use Windows.
