True. After both of my wisdom teeth extractions I was walking home alone completely conscious.

Good Wages to doctors, so they don't have to resort to over treating you to extract money

I think it's the Lidocaine that knocks them out

Local anastetic like Lidocain doesn't knock you out like that. I guess they are using stuff like Midazolam (Dormikum). In Germany some dentists offer that, too. But the dentist needs to be certified and this costs extra. Just local anastetics and the wisdom tooth surgery is covered by the insurance.

Most countries in EU use local anesthetics for simpler surgeries (lidocaine). However in the USA there is very lax regulation on this - dentists use IV sedation which is basically mix of drugs - a lot of times including diazepines and Fentanyl. So if USA patients look like they are on heroin after surgery its because they basically are.

Prescribing opiods in the US is a real cash-money-move for many people involved, so yea

I got a full anesthesia in Europe with gas mask (not local), woke up like after a good night's sleep and was fully able to get home alone. I probably could have asked for a Xanax since they only give them by default to ladies
