TBH i think parents shouod be encouraged to teach their rugrats some tricks like fetch or shake hand. It would make them realize that encouragement, immediate reaction and repeated stimuli are also useful in teaching other things like tidying up a room, eating neatly, shutting up in public spaces, not running in the streets, not biting/kicking/pulling hair, saying "please" and "thank you", patiently waiting for food/a toy. I've seen just too many parents being helpless against a one-year-old because they tried to reason with it. People nowadays dont grow up in multigenerational families and young parents have no idea how babies work because they had never seen one before having their own.
