For real. With 26 I had a seizure and bit on my incisor and broke my root and nerve. So I had to get a root canal which killed the nerve completely. After half a year, my tooth started to turn black. I'm not vain but you could see it whenever I talked, laughed, ate etc. So I got a dental crown for which your existing dead tooth is carved down to a mini tooth and a fake tooth is glued onto my stump. Right now everything is fine, you can't really tell which tooth isn't my own, but if I ever break my crown, I will only have my mini tooth in the front row of my teeth... which looks even worse than having a black one... it's kind of frustrating.
