Yeah "by mistake", riiiiiight. I would not be surprised if higher price of a a dose for UK was also part fo the deal, since EU tries to sabotage and hurt UK for leaving.

UK bought from Moderna, EU bought from Pfizer. There are 2 different companies with different prices. USA went with Moderna, too.

Except the EU isn't a single state. Of that $18 per vaccine Germany and France are paying $17 of it. Greece and the other leech nation's then complain that they are poor so need to get subsidised and go back to bed. Yeah, when the unhappy spouse leaves a relationship, those that were spurned go out of their way to make it look like they live their best life, but we can all see it.
