It sounds bad, but to be honest I think we need to consider it. If people spent less time online and more time bettering themselves or their communities they'd be less shit in the western world.
The most retarded rule ever. Every gaming company is willing to suck chinese dick simply for the right to publish their game. Online or otherswise. And now they are hurting themselves.
All game accounts in China are tied to your government ID. Tencent, the largest online game provider in China, and the owner of Riot Games, said they will implement facial recognition to make sure children aren't using their parents' accounts.

Captain here . All major Chinese online games have these so called "addiction prevention system". If your total accumulative game time exceeds let's say 5 hours (including all your characters etc) , the game will shut down or it just locks you out or you cannot progress in game anymore. If you wanna get rid of this shit, you need to register with your real ID which is given to you when you hit 18. Cherry on top : all internet service providers have and will give all your info to the government. Coupled with your ID number, if you say something the government doesn't like, the police can knock on your door or take you away in as short as 2 hours (from the moment of your infringement).

Pfff i will be buried in downvotes but oh well… China sucks, and I love to play… still, there’s much time wasted in games just to scape to real world instead of work in other more useful habilites, and i would like to say most games are relaxing but no… some are stressful af, but this should be totally optional, not mandatory
