Honestly this is media looking for outrage where there is none. Merc can now get more performance out of cars already produced. The cars are/were sold with certain performance numbers for a price and it got you that performance. The upgrade could've even be reserved for the new car line up, instead they offer it as an upgrade for existing customers. You don't have to shell out $1200/mo and your car will still perform just as advertised when you bought it. Now also the extra performance is something engineers have worked on and had to be tested for safety and all other related things, so a premium can be justified for the work Also, it's already a fast car and if you're stupid/rich enough to pay $1200/year for 0,34sec (guessing here, didn't look up the actual number) more acceleration increase, then Mercedes deserves your money more than you do
