Yes. That is the point. The only thing most colleges do is make more college teachers. And debt. It is a taxpayer funded pyramid scheme.
well true but he would also be continuing research so it's not a complete self-contained system. Also that's not only the case for social sciences. A phd in theoretical mathematics will probably also lead to a position as a professor of mathematics at a university (or a taxi driver).

Why don't he spend money on starting a new business or shop even. That would pay his expenses and even he can be successful too. Instead of perusing a PHD for no fucking reason. My brother did college and he didn't get a proper job for his degree. He started his own restaurant business with some money from our father. He is successful now.
