ive been using internet since windows 3.1 on a 28k, BBS, newsgroup, etc. In 93/94 I believe. .. .. .. .. .. internet has now become a cancerous shit for society since its become cheaper and more accessible to kids and dumb people. and social media has only made this worse.

Methinks the blue checkmark doth protest too much.
It did democratise information, though. That's one of the effects.
What it did was giving governments more power to control people through propaganda.
So what you're saying is that it literally democratized information...
Social media has given idiots a platform to share their idiocy. They're no longer confined to fringe pockets at the edge of society and they're emboldened when seeing they're not alone. People have always been dumb but now they're no longer ashamed of their stupidity and instead of being ignored or mocked into silence they reinforce each other in a vicious cycle. Social media is the path to idiocracy, with stops at populism, racism, bigotry and xenophobia along the way.
