The only thing that is important is that the bullet gets extracted, with a "clang" into a dish, and then the protagonist is perfectly fine. If he's not the protagonist, he will die an agonizing death, only leaving him time to say exactly the words required by the script. Afterwards, the protagonist will close his eyes with his hand.

If the bullet hits your spleen you bleed out and die. If it misses your spleen and ruptures your intestine, you die of bloodloss and get an infection and sepsis from the gut bacteria.

Literally today i watched "this island earth"... classic british sci fi film about space invaders. The kinda good alien bloke in it with a big head was attacked by his own monster with a massive exo brain in exactly this spot. He passed it off as ok despite having a massive blood loss.
