Notice how "same job and same employer" don't include same productivity, same working hours and same work load. In my experience women just worse workers which everyone has to tiptoe around, mentor on everyday basis and pick up their slack. And it's before they have kids, after they had kids they lose any interest and motivation in the job and start picking up 30 sick days a year. Constant threat of going to maternity leave also heavily discourage you from giving them any responsibility and important projects since they can drop out at any moment.
