I've seen it happen a couple of times irl, and on some random clips on the internet...and i've never seen a shedding of antlers being horrendous. They usually just fall of, like this one. How can it be horrendous??

With "horrible sheddings" you probably mean shedding the velvet which is a bit different thing.
