well yes thats always the thing. i think its human psychology to be seen "more worthy" when you are in the game. same happens in a relationship. be single and nobody wants you. have a relationship and suddenly people start showing more interest in you.

It is a rule in HR in every country, and in every field or industry. So for the younglings : if you are unemployed, always lie about it. Also, always give a false address if you live in a "wrong neighborhood" or if you live far away from the job location.

i saw recruiters changing their job 2-3 times over 2 years and got messages from them after each job change

Same with girls, It's almost as if there was a scheme

When you are unemployed as a software engineer you are the fault

Poorly cropped memes vs well cropped memes

As a recruiter I use the filter "open to work" when I use linked in What are you talking about ? you really think it's easier to hunt people that are actually employed and not looking for new opportunity? thats what we do when there is no one available corresponding on the market

If you are a software engineer you are the problem.

If you're a software engineer and unemployed, that explains why your value is underestimated. But don't give up.

If you ever hired people its kinda obvious why HR will much rather engage with someone having a job or who had one. Most of the applicants in these positions are quite young. If you have never worked before, it might take you some time to adjust to a working environment and the rules regarding it, and this is done usually at the expense of those already working there. No one wants to put this extra effort. Even some time working in a totally non related field helps a lot. Another thing is the skills you have. In SD, programming its just a part of what its considered skill. Having a part time job in a non related field + projects you do as a hobby in what you would like to work *aka SD + right attitude can account muuuuch more than a diploma.
