Theaters by copies directly from the Publisher and it is usually uncompressed and made with specific pixel density and color for a big display.
I remember The Hobbit at 2K resolution (percieved) with 3D for IMAX Aspect Ratio was 650 Gigabytes.

What you're paying for is the theaters rights for that movie and the "experience".
Point being that if you're paying for a movie that's already available on a streaming service, it's you who decided to waste your own money.
