In Australia all trucks are required to have bars mounted lower under the tray/flat sections to allow car bumpers to hit long before the windshield.

I didn't think that the Austria with Kangaroos would be that underdeveloped.. It's been a while since I saw this happen. Europe has laws that require trucks to have guards so that no car can get under the trailer in that way in a crash.
