This is actually really typical for homeless animals in eastern Europe and Russia

Dogs have a theory of mind and this fact is mindblowing.

I have a cat in my neighborhood, which does the exact same. Waits at the crossing until the cars stop (and most of the time, they do). Once they do, it crosses the street. Clever things.

Here in norway cars are very good at stopping quickly at crosses like this, so pedestrians rarely have to wait for long. As a result, my dog ocationally decides to shoot across the road when we walk past the white lines, even if we are not going that way... she would be the worst street dog
