I've read everything Brandon Sanderson has published. Stormlight (4 books) and Mistborn (6 books) are my favorite series of his. Most of his works are in a single universe; the Cosmere. At least one character is in all of the books, usually only as important cameos. The latest stormlight book started making some exciting connections between the different worlds in the Cosmere, but I won't spoil it. Make sure you read his shorts, especially Edgedancer (stormlight book), and sixth of dusk. Or the whole Arcanum Unbounded. White Sands are cool graphic novels, and Skyward/Starsight is a nice non-cosmere sci fi.

I dont know about that, Brandon doesn't do very good characters or dialogue. When the vastard finishes, I'd suggest The Name of the Wind and Wisemans Fear by Patrick Rothfuss.

I tried but it was too twisted for me and i think he has problem with creating names for his characters. Didnt like also the way he wrote ending od Robert Jordan "wheel of time" cycle.
