On one hand, "Dust Maker" could be an indicator of him making lots of dust, when he rides into battle with his men and horses. Then on the other hand, "Dust Maker" could also mean he was a dusty mf with dandruff, who also didn't clean up after himself. Go figure.

Most of the time these images were taken of people in costume, not their actual clothes. They were put in books to sell the myth of the American savage to city folk. But in reality, many of them conformed to the new societies they found themselves in.
