He's playing the long game. You can't fight insurgence with success. But if you let them win, capture a country, form a nation and army, THEN you can declare a proper war and go apeshit on them. He basically won the war on terrorism.

Okay, just a few things : the weapons were given to the Afghan Army, who THEN gave them to the Talibans. Secondly : there wasn't much BIden could do. See, Trump made a deal with the Taliban : "You leave us alone, we leave you alone, and we'll be out by May". And the Taliban held their part of the deal, left the Americans alone... and because the Americans left them alone, they could consolidate their powers : get weapons, strike deals with the provincial administrators ("give up when the American leave, or we'll kill you all"). Which meant that when Biden took office, the Talibans were at their most powerful for the last 20 years. So yeah, here was the choice for Biden : either abide by the deal made by his predecessor, or say "No way, Jose", and stay, which meant... full out war against an ennemy that has never been so powerful, which meant thousands of death, lots of them American. So let's not forget : Trump gave Biden a complete shitshow.
