My pops use to have a similar gift wrapping style. People would give him a hard time and say he had ocd. He really thought giving a gift was something special and wanted to make sure it was perfect. I really miss him.

The amount of packaging used in Japan is too damn high! Everything is wrapped three or four times, and then put into an extra bag. Doesn't anyone think of the environmental impact?

I heard that many Japanese don't tear off the wrapping paper of gift. they recycle it for other gift, origami, or something. that made by own history and mind, this is called culture.
but nowadays looks like it's over-packaging.
