It wasn't whites who owned the slave ships, or who enslaved and sold the blacks in the forst place.
I was 9 when my teacher for the year, who had lived with the Hopi for 20 years, spent the year teaching American history from the viewpoint of Native anericans, northern and southern. The arc continued to next year when she was again my teacher and we were taught American history up to 1776. This included the spanish conquest of precolombian civilization, but we were lickally spared the details of America government vs Native americans of the 19th century, although we were spared the details of what was to come, the tragedies were alluded to. Learn history not to take sides in past events, as you cannot. Learn history to have more knowledge of present and future human tendencies and what failed spectacularly before so the same mistakes may be avoided.
