So the tape measure goes around the world once in approx. 5s. Thats 40000 km in 5s, so 8000 km/s, or roughly 2.5% the speed of light. Escape velocity of earth is 11km/s, the escape velocity of the sun is 620km/s. So that shit would just fly out to space and fuck off for all eternity. To force it into an orbit on the surface of the earth with that speed, the gravitational force of earth would need to be about 1 million times stronger. The funny thing is the orbital velocity on the surface of the earth (if it were possible) is roughly 8000 m/s, so the time it should realistically need is 1000 times higher so you'd be sitting there for 5000 seconds, which is about 1.5 hours.
