Chewing them is a bad move. Some pills come with special cover to resist stomach acids that would neutralize the drug if it's exposed to them, so if you chew that kind of pill, it's going to lose the mayor part of its effects.

had a friend who had to take his meds every now and then. this kid swallowed atleast 10 pills at the same time without water.

Used to do that, too (not with all pills, though), until my wife told me, that I should swallow them. Even my dumb ass got married somehow....

In general: read the drug pamphlet for instructions. Don't chew or break pills/tablets/capsules unless it specifically states you can. Good user compliance can solve a ton of drug-related issues. Call your pharmacist if you have any questions, they know more than your GP. Also, taking pills with some water is a good idea to prevent it being held up in your oesophagus. Some formulations can stick and the releasing medicin can then cause local irritation.
