Just watched the start of saving private Ryan yesterday. What a crazy scene that is.

Its an unforgiving loop. When people see that its a WW2 they want to see iconic WW2 things. D-day, Stalingrad, Berlin, Carentan. Stuff you seen a thousand times before.
Yet at the same time, people are bored of these so they long for the less known stories of WW2, which there are plenty of course but for some reason they are rarely used.
THen you find a game which focuses on these rarely told stories and you are like.... Eeeh? Where is my D-day? I want to fight at Stalingrad.... Why can't this game play at one of the iconic places? Bleeeh, this is not even a WW2 game! I want muh WW2!!
A long line of movies and games burnt in the iconic places and events of WW2 into the mind of gamers.

Honestly, no matter how many times I storm Omaha beach in a game -
I enjoy it every time again.
The fear, the stress, the suffer, the artillery & machine guns roaring, screams everywhere. You feel alive the most when you are close to death.
- written by some random dude who obviously played too many games, watched too many movies and the most dangerous situation I've ever been was when I made a nurse angry.

Still waiting for decent german campaign in WW2. Yeah being a dough boy is cool and stuff. But imagine beig on the german side standing your ground no matter the cost and ending up all the way in Berlin or something. Must be cool.
