My family and I have had Dogs as long as I have been alive: "my" first dog was a German Shepard my parents got me as a christening gift. It was a companion for me as I grew up, as a toddler I sat on her meck and pulled her ears and she would calmly accept it and look at my parents with eyes saying "can someone get this cretin off of me? No hurry, but it's annoying". Every dog since was trained properly and would never have done this. Except one. A german shepard mix with some sort of natural defect that made her fear anything and everything not familiar and people not part of family, but we knew this and always made sure she was not alone with guests, children etc. And everyone who came into contact with the dog knew she was afraid of them and to let her make contact and leave a route for her to leave the room if she meeded to. Never had any incidents with her either amd she was the most demanding dog I ever trained.

Watched a drunk moron do this with a pitbull at a block party..... The dog about took his entire top lip off in one bite and he ended up with quite a permanent scar from it.
