Finally some love for this masterpiece. Fun fact, a historian with extensive knowledge of the periods military tactics, uniforms etc. said that he never saw a better depiction of naval combat from that time. Personally I watch it once a year for a good pick me up. Russel Crowe and Paul Bettany are absolutely amazing together. Those dinner scenes I could replay over and over again, always made me smile

This is not a neat and tidy "little" movie. This is by far one of the most epic and true-to-history movies in existence and is greatly underappreciated! Much like Kingdom of Heaven.

I would rather have seen 10 movies like this one instead of 10 Pirate of the Carribean. -Can’t change my mind

Cursed with a release in between blockbusters Pirates of the Caribbean and Return of the King, it almost depicts a self-fulfilling prophecy, as it is a story about a ship facing a mamoth advisary and only through wit and careful planning can it be victorious.
