An idea whose time has come. Water cooling had a lot to offer in just about any application not limited by weight. More so with modern pumps and sensors. A high rate of relatively sustained fire, and with less complexity than a rotary cannon. Not to mention no delay to spin up or need to calibrate for that much rotation.
