very, very smart. a magpie (the bird you see here) had once stole a beer crown-cap from my terrace while i went to kitchen to take some snacks. it was 20 seconds at max for me to come back. it was sitting on the fence and repetitively pointing my snack plate with the cap in his beak. i realized that it wanted to trade and i played along. i put a piece of cheese on the table and it traded the cap with cheese. it seems la fontaine was right. the members of the crow family indeed enjoy cheese.
