There are still several homeopathic products that cannot be produced synthetically and as such cannot be patented to be sold as medicine. Main example that springs to mind is Nigella Sativa oil. High in thymoquinone it has huge potential in hypoglycemic control and anti cancer properties. It also contains huge amounts of coenzyme q10. And has immunomodulatory effects ( it even protects against Covid and other coronavirus (Sars mers and bird/swine flu)

It's not even watered down. Or rather it is, but so much so it's just sugar pills in the end.

James Randi: "I just ingested 6 and a hakf days worth of (homeopathy) sleeping pills! (...)What is Homeopathy? It's taking a medicine, that really works, and diluting it down well beyong Avogadro's limit. Diluding it down to the point, where there is none of it left! Now folks, this is not just a metaphor, i'm going to give you now, it's true. It's exactly equivalent of taking one 325 miligram aspirin tablet, throwing it into the middle of Lake Tahoe, and the stirring it up, obviously with a very big stick, and waiting 2 years or so, until the solution is homogeneous. Then, when you get a headache, you take a sip of this water, and Voila! It is gone!"

If I remember correctly homeopathy took place around 1600... At that time the medicines and the medical trials (operations, medical visits ... ) were more dangerous that actually doing nothing. So the little pill that does nothing at the time saved you from the medics.
Just to say the diffusion of whasing hands before touching a patient came around the 1900.
